Trippin'

I blogged in preparation for my trip to Utah a few times. Now that it's over, I guess I'll blog about all of the fun we had up there! It started on Thursday morning. I flew from Tucson to Vegas. I waited there for not quite 2 hours. I got pretty bored, so I took to walking around the airport on the moving sidewalks. Those things are my favorite! And can I just say that you should never stop walking on a moving sidewalk. You are moving slower by standing on the moving sidewalk than normal walking! They're to get you places faster, not foster laziness! Silly people. So I got on my plane that was bound for Salt Lake. I guess I was busy reading my book, because I didn't really realize that we waited around on the tarmac for so long until we were finally taking off. We taxied into position and out my window were 4 planes behind us, all waiting their turn to take off! In the end it was only an extra 30 minutes or so, and we didn't arrive very late in Salt Lake. ...

I really shouldn't be awake right now considering I have to be at work in less than 8 hours, but I was checking the weather. Provo: Tucson: Needless to say, I'm pretty pleased to get out of town for a few days. :)

Rumor Has It

One time, a bunch of Facebook friends anonymously answered weird questions about me. They were funny. Jog your memory , if you'd like. Today I got another one of those things posted on my wall and I thought this one was hysterical. Truth be told, I don't think anyone is manlier than Serena Williams. Hahaha

Reliving the Moment

Here is last night in photos: This envelope stared me down for 6 hours. Friends waiting for the big reveal. Writing down one US and one foreign guess. Kelsey and Austin kinda tied for being closest, Kels with Ohio and Austin with West Virginia. Here we go! I love the pouting face. I swear, they were tears of joy! :) I'm going to Kentucky! (And Illinois and Indiana) Everyone is happy for me. I'm sad I didn't get a picture with my parents, but there will be plenty of those when I get dropped off in September. I have the coolest friends ever. :)   :: Here are some photos of other happy things:

I got my call. Kentucky Louisville . Spanish speaking . It's nothing like what I expected, but altogether where I am meant to go. I've only known for a few hours at this point, but here are a few handy things I've learned about the area so far (thanks to Wikipedia): Louisville sits on the Ohio River Tornadoes exist there Average snowfall in a winter is about 14-15 inches The rainfall average is 44-45 inches annually (almost 4x more than Tucson!!!) It was an active city in the slave trade Summertime is hot and humid It ranks in the top ten safest large cities The mayor is a Democrat About 3% of the population is Hispanic There's a temple there! :) The area has pioneered some important medical procedures, including heart transplants The area code there is 502. I'm going to have a seriously hard time not mixing that up with my home area code of 520 I know that when you Google a place you're always going to get the prettiest stuff first, but man is it c...

Substantive

I'm trying to blog something personal and something of value, but I'm having a hard time. Life is just weird right now. I keep waiting for summer school to be over so I can finally feel the relief of not having deadlines. I keep thinking that once I'm free of the class I can focus on the good stuff, the places that my life is headed in the next little while and feel good about it. Ultimately though, I don't really think that's the source of the problem. I think the problem is that my whole life is in flux right now, and I can't do anything about it. People are moving, graduating, getting married, getting mission calls, and all this other stuff that is disrupting the perfect balance that I had achieved in the not so distant past. I had to cope with change not too long ago when everyone graduated high school, friends moved away, we found directions for our lives to take, and did our best to establish ourselves as "adults." Now I'm waiting for a ...

Boo. I had forgotten how nasty summer can be because of how nice winter and spring are here. What's most stupid about this whole forgetting thing is that I've lived here my whole life! What does not make this better is the fact that U2's annual lake trip was cancelled. My heart still hurts for that one. But what can you do besides do your best to keep cool and get a good tan? Some things a just beyond your control.
