Maturing
Do you ever say something and then think, "Whoa, that just sounded like dad/mom?" Well, I definitely did that the other day, and I was kind of proud it happened. I've got rockin' parents, if you didn't know. Now you know.

On a different note, Nicole got married today. She looked stunning. It's sad to see her start this chapter of her life, because we're kind of on different pages now (to keep with the literary metaphor). But the more I think about it, the more that's the way it's meant to be. I'll find myself a good spouse someday, as will all of my friends. We'll all leave each other behind to find bigger and better things in this life, and the only thing left in the end will be an empty stretch of road that we all used to travel together. We'll each replace that stretch that we once took together in favor of individual roads that lead us on to better things. We can chase our dreams a little more fervently when you have that companion and a new direction for your life, I think. We'll all find that one person that changes our life.
Nicole isn't doing us a disservice the way I make it sound, she's pursuing a dream with a person she adores. And though Nicole is the first to find that special person to share her life with, she won't be gone forever. And she isn't exactly leaving us in the dust, so to speak. We're all doing different things with our lives, working on different goals, and that's okay. Soon enough it'll be my turn to get married, and before long we'll all have houses full of children and pets, and the joys and pains of growing older. But I know that someday (hopefully while we're all still on this Earth) we'll get together and laugh about the old times. About the dirty jokes. About the traditions, the trips, the late nights, and the pizzookies. We sure love pizzookies. It'll be like no time has passed, because this group is different, and special. And the best thing about it is that our lives will have been so enhanced by the things we were able to accomplish with our spouses and families, and that will only add to the wonderful things that we'll reminisce about.

Hopefully we all meet again as a group of friends, bonded together by these years of experiences, but in the event that our paths are all too separated and we never get to all be together, we'll all still be friends in the next life, laughing about the fun times we had. We probably won't laugh about the dirty jokes, because that would be irreverent and in poor taste, but we've got plenty of wholesome memories to look back on. :)
We love you Nicole! Congratulations on getting married! Sean is a lucky man.
